Community Guideline

Introduction

The Empowering Parents Collective (EPC) (“Collective”) is more than a digital platform—it is a trusted community designed to support, equip, and elevate parents and caregivers of children with disabilities. Created with the understanding that navigating special education systems can be overwhelming and isolating, this Collective provides a structured, supportive space where parents are informed, respected, and empowered.

Within this community, members gain access to shared knowledge, practical tools, and meaningful connection. Parents are encouraged to learn at their own pace, ask questions without fear, and collaborate with others who understand the complexities of advocacy, education, and family life. The Collective offers guidance, resources, and collective wisdom to help families make informed decisions and confidently advocate for their children.

Our commitment is to stand alongside families as they strengthen their advocacy skills, deepen their understanding of their rights, and build lasting confidence in supporting their children’s educational journeys.

Community Guidelines

Welcome to the Empowered Parent Collective. This community was created to support parents and caregivers navigating disability, special education, and advocacy. Our goal is to maintain a space that is respectful, supportive, and grounded in trustworthy information.

To help ensure that all members feel safe and supported, we ask that everyone follow these guidelines.

1. Respect Confidentiality

What is shared within the Collective remains within the Collective. Members should not repost, screenshot, or distribute conversations from this community outside the Collective without permission.

Please also avoid sharing personally identifiable information about children, families, or school personnel when discussing experiences.

2. Engage Respectfully

Kindness, professionalism, and mutual respect are required at all times. Families come to this community with different experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives.

We expect members to communicate thoughtfully, listen openly, and maintain a tone that supports learning and collaboration.

3. Focus on Empowerment

Content shared within the Collective should remain relevant to parenting, disability, education, and empowerment. Conversations that support families in navigating systems, understanding rights, and supporting their children are encouraged.

Posts unrelated to these topics may be redirected or removed to maintain the purpose of the community.

4. No Third-Party Solicitation

The Collective is a support and learning space for parents — not a marketing platform.

Members may not use this space for:

• Advertising products or services

• Promoting businesses, consulting services, or coaching programs

• Recruiting clients or participants

• Fundraising or commercial promotions

If you are unsure whether a post may be considered solicitation, please contact the Collective team before posting.

5. No Political Campaigning or Inflammatory Content

To maintain a constructive and inclusive environment, political campaigning, harassment, or divisive rhetoric is not permitted.

The Collective focuses on supporting families and children with disabilities. Discussions should remain centered on constructive solutions, resources, and shared learning.

6. Share Responsibly

Members are encouraged to share experiences and helpful resources. However, information shared in the Collective should not be presented as legal, medical, or educational advice that substitutes for professional guidance.

Professional members may offer general insights, but individualized advice should be sought from qualified professionals outside the community.

7. Respect Boundaries

Participation in the Collective is voluntary. Members are welcome to engage at their own pace and comfort level without pressure or expectation.

Some parents may participate actively, while others may simply read and learn. Both forms of participation are respected.

8. Professional Oversight

The Collective is monitored by seasoned special education professionals to help ensure discussions remain respectful, accurate, and supportive.

Moderators may:

• Redirect discussions

• Remove inappropriate content

• Address violations of community guidelines

This oversight helps maintain a safe and constructive environment for all families.

9. Report Concerns

Any unsafe, inappropriate, or harmful behavior should be reported promptly to Collective moderators.

We take community safety seriously and will address concerns thoughtfully and promptly.

10. A Shared Commitment

By participating in the Empowered Parent Collective, members agree to follow these guidelines and contribute to a respectful and supportive community.

Together, we are building a space where families feel informed, connected, and empowered.
